  1. Camelos estão sendo usados no Quênia em um programa para levar livros para escolas em áreas remotas do nordeste do país.

    A educação de nível básico é gratuita, mas muitas crianças não têm acesso às escolas.
    O governo queniano diz que muitos menores de comunidades nômades não recebem educação porque passam todo o tempo disponível cuidando dos rebanhos, que são a base da subsistência local.
    O plano que inclui o uso de camelos como "bibliotecas ambulantes" pode estar ajudando a mudar isso.

  2. Blibliotecas em Ônibus.
    O projeto ônibus-biblioteca possibilita que pessoas de regiões mais distantes tenham acesso a livros, periódicos e gibis. São quatro ônibus com roteiros estabelecidos de acordo com a ausência de bibliotecas públicas na região e também por sugestão da população local.

    Em Alto Alegre do Pindaré, uma cidade maranhense com menos de 30 mil habitantes, um jegue circula pelas ruas de terra carregando bolsas cheias de livros. Senhoras, crianças e adultos formam fila para emprestar até dois exemplares por vez, todas as semanas.Projetos de leitura crescem no país ... São bibliotecas em casas de palafita na região amazônica, ... E de onde veio a ideia de levar os livros nessas carroça,supervisora do ônibus-biblioteca da Prefeitura de São Paulo, ... no Rio, um projeto chamado Biblioteca Espumas Flutuantes funciona.
    Em dois anos, mais do que triplicou o número de iniciativas no Brasil que facilitam acesso da população ao livro

Com estas palavras, há 70 anos, o escritor e primeiro diretor do Departamento de Cultura da cidade de São Paulo, Mário de Andrade, justificou ao então Prefeito Fábio Prado a necessidade de viabilizar o projeto de implantação de uma unidade móvel para levar livros à população: a Biblioteca Circulante.

    A Ford construiu e doou um modelo de caminhonete-biblioteca que passou a visitar periodicamente lugares como o Largo da Concórdia, Jardim da Luz e a Praça da República, proporcionando aos freqüentadores o contato com os livros. Este serviço foi interrompido em 1942 devido à necessidade de racionamento de combustível na II Guerra Mundial.

    Jovens criam biblioteca ambulante para entidade

    A falta de espaço já foi um empecilho para a organização de uma biblioteca na Casa Hope, instituição que atua para a melhoria da qualidade de vida de pacientes com câncer. Com o objetivo de reverter esse quadro, cinco estudantes do Colégio Bandeirantes, em São Paulo, estão implementando uma idéia bastante criativa para que os livros possam finalmente serem lidos.

    "Trata-se do projeto Cubo Bibliotecário, que circulará pelos espaços da Casa Hope levando aos pacientes o prazer da leitura", conta Cinilia Gisondi, coordenadora do Programa Cidadania do Colégio Bandeirantes. A idéia surgiu quando os alunos se reuniram para bolar um programa de voluntariado, que deveria estar focado nas necessidades da região onde moram. Escolheram a Casa Hope assim que pesquisaram sobre as instituições das redondezas.

    A falta de uma biblioteca foi a primeira necessidade observada pelos estudantes. "Eles tinham muitos livros, mas que não estavam sendo aproveitados justamente por conta da falta de espaço e organização", conta. Uma das garotas, Cintia Sayuri Sawada, lembrou-se de um livro que leu na infância, no qual uma garota percorria a vila onde morava com um carrinho cheio de livros.

    "A partir dessa lembrança surgiu a idéia da biblioteca móvel", entusiasma-se a aluna. Os estudantes mandaram construir dois carrinhos de madeira, semelhantes a um cubo, que circulam por todo o prédio levando os livros até os quartos da crianças. Com ajuda da bibliotecária da escola, todos os exemplares foram catalogados.

    Segundo a coordenadora, os alunos foram responsáveis diretos por todas as etapas do projeto, incluindo a negociação, as parcerias e a implementação. "A escola teve o papel de capacitar e prestar consultoria aos alunos, mas a implementação foi realizada por eles mesmos", diz.

  11. Em Alto Alegre do Pindaré, a 239 km de São Luís, uma iniciativa está ajudando professores e alunos a disseminar o gosto pela leitura nas comunidades, tanto da zona urbana quanto da zona rural. Trata-se do Projeto Jegue-Livro, uma espécie de biblioteca ambulante. Uma vez por mês, um jegue com jacás (uma espécie de cofo de fibra vegetal) de livros, conduzido por jovens leitores, sai às ruas e se instala em um local da comunidade, à sombra, pondo livros à disposição da população. Por uma hora, acontecem as leituras espontâneas.

    O Jegue-Livro é ligado a outro projeto de incentivo à leitura, o Jovens Leitores, que é desenvolvido em todas as escolas onde funciona o Programa Escola Que Vale (EQV), parceria da Prefeitura com a Fundação Vale do Rio Doce. Este foi pensado para que os estudantes não ficassem sem aula, enquanto os professores participavam da formação continuada com a coordenação do EQV, realizado uma vez por mês, no intervalo de uma hora, em cada um dos nove estabelecimentos onde o programa foi instalado.

    Para estender à comunidade foi um passo. Em ação com outro projeto, o Comunidade de Leitores, desenvolvido por diretores nas suas unidades de ensino, formou-se uma rede em favor da leitura no município.

    Arrastão

    Quando sai às ruas, o jegue arrasta centenas de crianças, jovens, adultos e idosos. Todos em busca de conhecimento. Em praça pública, elas participam de rodas de leitura. As crianças são incentivadas a ler, a desenhar, a pintar e a fazer a releitura dos livros em microfones.

    "São atividades que ajudam no desenvolvimento da comunicação oral, no sentido de melhorar o nível de leitura e diminuir a inibição", explica Carmelita Laura, professora e diretora da Unidade Integrada Professor Francisco de Assis Carneiro, do povoado Auzilândia, uma das cinco comunidades onde o Projeto Jegue-Livro vem sendo desenvolvido há seis meses.

    O Jegue-Livro é uma daquelas idéias simples que dão certo pelo esforço coletivo. Em cada comunidade onde o projeto é realizado, o animal que faz o transporte dos livros é doado por um pai de aluno ou um morador do local. Da mesma forma que os jacás, que são enfeitados por alunos com papel colorido e servem como estantes móveis.

    Os livros são doações, da Prefeitura e do próprio Escola Que Vale, disponíveis na biblioteca da Casa do Professor, um espaço de suporte ao Programa EQV.
